How often is it that we hear nowadays, the suicide of individuals discontent with their lives. All this, despite attaining personal success in education, a career or children. In Toronto recently, a young woman threw herself and her young child off a bridge despite please from others not to do it. So what is it that causes people to feel such purposelessness? Despite being seemingly successful in their lives and having plenty of purpose to live for (such as a child), what is it that makes people feel they no longer want to live.

It can only be that they do not understand the purpose of their creation and existence and cannot accept the good and bad of what is decreed for them in their lifetime. Moreover, what's lost is the connection between them and their Lord and the commitment to Him in good and bad times. That connection, which keeps a person firm, level-headed and accepting of all circumstances, with complete dependency on his/her Lord, knowing that obeying Him and committing righteous actions and repelling sins and evil will no doubt give him/her a good end. In fact, it is this connection with one's Lord which will allow the person to never feel severe distress or hopelessness in the face of adversity.

\"and I Did Not Create The Jinn And Mankind Except To Worship Me…\" [Qur'an, 51:56-58]

This purpose and goal of obeying one's Lord and the personal fulfilment, satisfaction and complete ease one's heart is filled with is only attainable through this obedience and submission. And if one were to turn his thoughts and sorrows to his/her Lord, then he would be aided,

...and hold fast to Allah [i.e. have confidence in Allah, and depend upon Him in all your affairs] He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper! (Qur'an, 22:78)

When the world seems like it is caving in on you, remember the might and majesty of the Almighty One who fashioned the heavens and the earth and all that remains therein with such precession and beauty, He alone is the one who can set aright your affairs if you but turn to him alone with sincerity and belief,

Know you not that it is Allah to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? And besides Allah you have neither any Wali (protector or guardian) nor any helper. (Qur'an, 2:107)

We recommend the reader to contemplate the article, Searching for Happiness Here is an excerpt:

\"A reality that cannot be denied is that permanent happiness cannot be achieved except by believing in God and following His guidance. Since it is He who created mankind, therefore it is He who knows what pleases, benefits, saddens and harms them. A number of philosophers have admitted that religious people lead content, worriless lives. So if believing in God leads to ultimate happiness, then how can this be achieved?\"

Happiness is a common goal that everyone strives to attain. Philosophers, intellectuals, doctors and artists alike, all are in search of the causes of happiness and ways to escape anxiety. The reality is however, that the solutions being presented achieve only partial or imaginary happiness. They are more or less like drugs, taken to feel temporary relief, but when their effect withdraws, anxieties return twice fold. This booklet before you invites you to ultimate happiness and will take you by the hand towards true success.
