Polytheism is to designate an associate with Allah who shares something of His Lordship over all things or His right to be worshipped alone by all of creation. 'Shirk' as it is called in Islamic terminology, is the dividing line between the belief of the Muslim and the non-Muslim. It is polytheism that every Prophet and Messenger warned against.
